There is a diverse selection of studio art galleries in Cardiff.
Each of these art galleries has a certain uniqueness about it. The Victoria Fearn Gallery is to be found in Rhiwbina and displays contemporary art in a walk through gallery.
Gifts of British origin are to be found in the body of the shop and either Carole or Victoria Fearn are availale for product knowledge both on art and gifts.

The Albany Gallery organizes monthly exhibitions focusing on both established and new painters, It was established in 1965 it features Welsh artists and is a place to visit both to view and buy . It is now recognized as an authority in its area with an excellent website.

Oriel Makers Gallery, this is one of those art galleries that is operated by artists who ‘make’ the items. Also in Roath, the contributers include art and crafts since 1991. Be prepared to meet the artists and view at leisure. Work can be commissioned if desired.

Martin Tinney has had a gallery since 1992 situated in the shadow of the Cardiff Museum. This is one of those art galleries that features Welsh artists. Prices range from the modest amount of £100 all the way up tp £30-50,000. The gallery needs to be visited regularly as it has a regular turnover.

Gate Arts Centre
‘The Gate is housed in a 100 year old Grade II listed building. Formally the Plasnewydd Presbyterian Church, it is located in Keppoch Street in the Roath area of Cardiff. One of their main focuses is to educate, perform, engage and promote the arts in all its forms. From Drama and Dance to Music, Concerts, Theatre or Opera, the Written Word or Static Art, allowing it to be expressed, experienced and enjoyed.’

They have areas available to hire and two exhibitions coming up, the first is Erin Dooley’s exhibition ‘Panoramafreiheit’ which runs Wednesday 5th March – Friday 28th March with a Gallery Event on Wednesday 5th March, 6-8pm.
The second exhibition is an Open Exhibition which runs from Wednesday 2nd April – Friday 25th April, with a Gallery Event on Wednesday 9th April, for this exhibition the closing date for entries is Friday 28th March.
Everyone is welcome to enter artwork for the Open exhibition, however, the gallery reserves the right to not display artwork if it does not adhere to their exhibition policy, the entry fee for each piece of artwork is £10, with £7.50 for concessions, for further information please email gallery@thegate.org.uk.

Oriel Kooywood Gallery is another of those art galleries near the museum. Specializing in the sale of work by 20th century Welsh painters such as Ceri Richards and Sir Kyffin Williams. Others to feature are Eric Malthous and Josef Herman.

The Blue Dot gallery is located in the Capitol shopping centre the fine art includes contemporary work with the addition of watercolours and landscapes. You can find Rolf Harris paintings here that command a high price, but not all of them cost a fortune.

Contemporary art galleries are catered for by Off the Wall in Llandaff. Nestling behind Gothic doors that once belonged to the Old Probate Registry is a range of techniques perfected by recognized artists. A little research here often reveals good investments.

Cardiff Museum and its art galleries
The museum art galleries are home to some massive works of art, their size meets tat criteria but also quite simply they are just ‘really big.’
All the paintings in the Cardiff museum and in fact this covers the majority of paintings in the UK.
The catalogue includes those held in private collections. These art galleries include wartime bunkers fire and police stations and offices.

Cardiff Bay Art Galleries
Cardiff Bay is a great place for a walk and a wander and so its not surprising art galleries are sprig up here, try Bay art, Castle Galleries and the iconic Norwegian Church all have good pieces to view and the latter has a small café.
