Graham Gouldman at the Gate
Graham Gouldman played at the Gate in Keppoch Street in front of an almost capacity crowd of fans. It has to be said that most attending were closer to Graham Gouldman’s age than let’s say a Taylor Swift concert but it was clear from the ovation at the end of the Heart Full of Songs gig that the following was every bit as passionate.
Supported by Seb Wessen who opened the show the evening was a feast of guitars from acoustic to bass with a ukulele thrown in for good measure. The show featured songs from his recent album ‘I have Notes’ and include a collaboration with Brian May of Queen fame who also sidelines as an astronomer. The song called ‘Floating in Heaven’ refers to the James Webb space telescope and is also available on youtube. Another song ‘Play me’ featured Graham on his ukulele a tune about how the owner of a large guitar collection declined to permit their use and how this was viewed as sacrilege.
The evening was frankly a delight to attend at the Gate venue in Cardiff formerly a church the 400 strong crowd were treated to a confident display from Graham Gouldman the renowned songwriter and his band who quickly established a rapport with the crowd and was available after the show to sign CDs and chat to the attendees.
All in all great value for the cost of the £30.00 ticket, a highly recommended evening.
